Challenge: Anthony Blumka of Blumka Gallery needed a catalog layout for an upcoming gallery show they where hosting. They needed to have the catalog designed, approved, and printed within a few weeks. They would provide the images and copy and needed a fast turnaround.
Solution: When I received the contract I immediately started to research the history of the project so I can better familiarize myself with its background. I concluded that the images and their exquisite details should be the main focus of the page spreads, with the historical information being in a nice supporting typeface (Goudy). The most challenging part of the design was ensuring the reversed out copy had the leading and tracking open enough as to not become unreadable.
